Вечная мерзлота — условный неопределённый термин, используемый в разных значениях:

1) явления длительного охлаждения горных пород верхней части земной коры до нулевой температуры;

2) слой или обл. распространения долгое время не оттаивающих горных пород;

3) горные породы, сцементированные замёрзшей в них влагой (многолетние мёрзлые породы).
