Литосфера — верхняя твёрдая оболочка Земли, постепенно переходящая с глубины в сферы с меньшей прочностью вещества. Включает земную кору и верхнюю мантию Земли.

Мощность Л. — 50-200 км, в том числе земной коры — до 50-70 км на континентах и 5-10 км на дне океана.
