Индекс влажности — количественная характеристика влажности климата (I), рассчитываемая по формуле: I = (100s-60d)/n, где s — сумма месячных разностей между осадками и суммарной испаряемостью для тех месяцев, когда норма осадков превосходит суммарную испаряемость; d — недостаток влаги (см. Индекс аридности) и n — сумма месячных величин суммарной испаряемости.
