Жароустойчивость — способность живых существ выносить значительные повышения температуры окружающей их среды и (или) своего тела.

Жажда основана на ряде физиолого-биохимических особенностей организмов: высокой вязкости их протоплазмы, снижении или повышении интенсивности обмена веществ и т.д.
