Засуха в Европе с 2018 по 2020 год оказалась рекордно сильной за 200 лет

Новое исследование показало, что засуха в Европе с 2018 по 2020 год была самой сильной за более чем 200 лет, частично вызванной необычно высокими температурами, которые усугубили дефицит осадков на больших частях континента, сообщает издание Earth’s Future. С апреля 2018 года по декабрь 2020 года засуха затронула около трети Европы, в том числе большую часть Германии, Франции и Чехии, и длилась 33 месяца. В течение этого периода температура воздуха была на 2,8 градуса выше, чем в среднем за последние 250 лет, согласно анализу данных, начиная с 1766 года.

Высокие температуры и скудные осадки высушивали почвы, нанося ущерб урожаю. Производство кукурузы упало на 20–40% в Бельгии, Нидерландах, Люксембурге, Германии и Франции, а производство ячменя упало на 10% почти во всей Европе.

По мнению гидрологов из Центра экологических исследований им. Гельмгольца в Германии, политики, принимающие решения, в будущем должны быть готовы к значительно более сильным засухам. Для разработки новой сельскохозяйственной политики это следует рассматривать как тревожный сигнал для оценки подходящих мер по смягчению угрожающей нехватки воды.
