Внезапное стратосферное потепление отразилось на озоновой дыре

Ожидаемая площадь озоновой дыры над Антарктикой в текущем году будет наименьшей с 1980-х годов из-за внезапного стратосферного потепления, произошедшего в сентябре. Об этом журналистам сообщили в штаб-квартире Всемирной метеорологической организации (ВМО) в Женеве.

Эксперты организации сделали выводы о последствиях метеорологического явления, опираясь на данные службы мониторинга атмосферы Copernicus (CAMS). По словам старшего научного специалиста CAMS Энжи Иннесс, в этом году озоновая дыра «выглядит особенно необычно», так как внезапное потепление в стратосфере в начале сентября отразилось на холодном полярном вихре, из-за которого растет озоновая дыра.

При нагревании стратосферы объем облаков в этом атмосферном слое сокращается, и озон разрушается в меньшей степени. В этом году полярный вихрь переместился ближе к Южной Америке, и озоновая дыра выросла не так сильно. Ожидается, что она будет самой маленькой с середины 1980-х годов.

В середине сентября, по данным Copernicus, площадь озоновой дыры над Антарктикой составила чуть более 5 млн кв. км, хотя в 2018 году в тот же период она превышала 20 млн кв. км.
