Учёные описали вид титанозавров раннего мелового периода

Учёные из США описали новый вид титанозавров, который жил в Африке в раннем меловом периоде. Об этом сообщается в журнале Plos One.

В течение пяти лет учёные откапывали по частям останки титанозавра в долине реки Мтука на юго-западе Танзании. У него сохранились кости всех основных частей тела, в том числе позвонки, рёбра, зубы и кости конечностей.

Животное оказалось ранним представителем клады, включающей большинство титанозавров. Возраст отложений, в которых были найдены кости древнего ящера, составляет от 100 до 110 млн лет.
