Абиссаль

Абиссаль — пространство морского дна (часть бентали), соответствующее ложу океана (глубина свыше 2 000 м) с относительно малой подвижностью воды, постоянной температурой (ниже 2°с) и характеризующееся отсутствием света.

Жизнь представлена микроорганизмами: хемотрофами и животными. Видовой состав резко обеднён по сравнению с другими зонами. Нередко выделяют ультраабиссаль — абиссаль на глубинах свыше 6 000 м.
