Белку из «Ледникового периода» нашли в Аргентине

Неожиданную находку совершили палеонтологи. На территории Аргентины они обнаружили окаменелые останки млекопитающего, похожего на известную саблезубую белку из мультфильма «Ледниковый период».

В отличие от героини мультфильма эта саблезубая белка обитала в довольно комфортных условиях тропического леса около 100 млн лет назад. По словам учёных, она сильно отличалась от своих ближайших родственников из Африки. Её челюсти включали несколько однокоренных моляров и двукоренных премоляров, а клыки были в несколько раз длиннее, чем остальные зубы.
