Тип леса — лесоводственная классификационная категория, характеризующаяся определённым типом лесорастительных условий, породным составом древостоя, другой растительностью и фауной.

При равных экономических условиях определённым типам леса соответствуют одинаковые системы лесохозяйственных мероприятий.
