Автогенез — учение, рассматривающее эволюцию живой природы как процесс, независимый от внешних условий, направляемый и регулируемый некими внутренними нематериальными факторами.

А. близок к витализму. В экологии понятие автогенеза обычно применяется к сообществам и экологическим системам.
