Предотвращённый экологический ущерб от загрязнения окружающей природной среды — представляет собой оценку в денежной форме возможных отрицательных последствий, которые удалось избежать (предотвратить, не допустить) в результате природоохранной деятельности территориальных органов системы Госкомэкологии России, осуществления природоохранных мероприятий и программ, направленных на сохранение или улучшение качественных и количественных параметров, определяющих экологическое качество (состояние) окружающей природной среды в целом и её отдельных эколого-ресурсных компонентов.
