Популяция

Популяция — 1. Совокупность особей одного вида в течение большого числа поколений, населяющих определённое пространство, внутри которого происходит постоянное скрещивание. П. могут образовывать географическую расу или подвид. 

2. Особи (обычно одного вида), совместно проживающие на каком-либо пространстве. В этом значении слово не является термином. 

3. Всё население какой-либо территории (страны, провинции, административной единицы и т.п.).

П. экологическая — особи одного вида, обитающие в пределах одного биогеоценоза.
