Абиогенез — 1) возникновение живого из неживого в процессе эволюции; в настоящее время абиогенез невозможен из-за отсутствия физико-химических его предпосылок и неминуемого уничтожения возникающих форм современными живыми организмами;

2) образование органических соединений, характерных для живой природы, вне организмов и без участия ферментов, в результате химических реакций между неорганическими веществами (в обычных условиях или экстремальных ситуациях, например в жерлах вулканов и т.п.); в ходе такого взаимодействия могут возникать сложные органические соединения, порой очень токсичные
